What it means to take charge of our life
Taking charge of our life, actually designing the life that we want to live, is very different than just living our life on autopilot mode. When we live our life on autopilot, we often let others’ priorities and the obstacles we face dictate how we spend our time. Instead of letting life happen to us, instead of life being something to which we react, we can choose to take 100% responsibility and start living the life that makes us happiest.
To take charge of our life means several things. First, it means we accept responsibility for what happens in our life. It is important to recognize that our choices led us to where we are, our actions (or inaction) have led to our present circumstances. We must be willing to accept the responsibility for all our choices moving forward.
Secondly, taking charge of our life means we are ready to create a life that will bring us true fulfilment, allowing us to live our life to the fullest, instead of settling for something normal and average. Designing our life will enable us to be a creator source of our own reality. This is really an exciting place to live, it’s a different way of functioning.
Third, taking charge means recognizing and overcoming our fears, which can hold us back and prevent us from accomplishing everything we set out to create. When we design a life for ourselves, we have something to work toward that is gratifying and enjoyable. This provides impetus for overcoming the fears that have been thwarting our progress and helps us face our worries head on.
The first step in the process of taking control of our life is to gain clarity about what it is we really want, who we choose to be. We must make a demand of ourselves to be everything we can possibly be regardless of anyone or anything.
To truly generate the life we desire, we must simply begin by acknowledging ourselves as the source of the generation of everything that occurs in our life.
